Patagonia Verde Territory

This beautiful territory located in the Lagos region, considered a rich region in lakes, rivers, and impetuous mountains, includes the total province of Palena (comunes of Hualaihué, Chaitén, Palena and Futaleufú) plus the comune of Cochamó which belongs to Llanquihue’s province.

Actually this territory has 23,334 inhabitants distributed in 19,211 km2 and is considered one of the less explored places in the country and also one of the most attractive due to its impenetrable fauna and marvelous landscape.

The main economic activities of “Patagonia Verde” are; the fishing, seafood cultivation and the exportation of these resources. Also the fruits and vegetables cultives just like the cattle farming of bovines. However, comparing to the other provinces of the Region, is much less due to the abundance of natural woods and not exploited hills.

To see the Chaitén, Yates and Hornopirén volcanos, together with kayaking in the Reloncaví estuary, trekking in the mountains and fly fishing are only a few of the many wonderful activities that this zone offers you.

During the last year the people from this land have lived an extreme and complicated experience due to the Chaitén Volcano eruption. The whole country has felt sorry for this place so rich in natural resources and attractions.
